Job Summary
Plan and manage the hotel’s finance operations including
financial analysis and reporting, forecasting and budgeting, audit and
control, asset and liability reconciliation, and working. Capital and
cash control and ensure compliance with approved budgets, and MRH
accounting. guidelines and policies, international accounting
standards, and all statutory obligations.
Provide leadership to finance and accounting areas of the hotel and represent the Department in the different management forums.
Analyze and provide financial insights to aid decisions about formulating and executing strategy, and provide guidance and analysis to management and the board to improve the hotel's performance.
Maintain up-to-date accounting systems, keep books and records on all transactions and assets, and an orderly accounting filing system.
Lead the preparation, analysis, and timely submission of accurate, and complete end-of-year financial statements to management and the Board.
Prepare, analyze, and present accurate monthly financial and management reports to the management team, including income statement, balance sheet, budget and variance, projections and forecast, and cash flow.
Coordinate the preparation of audited financial statements, all tax returns, and other statutory obligations like NSSF.
Oversee monthly processing of the hotel payroll, and ensure its accuracy by confirming staff entitlements whether all allowable deductions are made including internal loans, advances, and statutory deductions.
Monitor the ledgers and oversee the processing of accounts payable, revenue and expense, fixed assets, cash, bank reconciliations, and allocations.
Supervise the procurement function of the hotel and ensure value for money purchases of goods and services, evaluate the performance of contractors, and take corrective actions.
Supervise the internal audit function and coordinate external audits, follow up on audit issues, and ensure closure.
Supervise and build a strong, professional, and competent accounting/finance team, and monitor and evaluate their performance in line with the hotel policies.
Requirements
Person's
specification
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in the disciplines of Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or any other related field.
A master’s degree in any of the above disciplines is an added advantage.
Full profession certification (ACCA or CPA).
A Minimum of 6 years of experience in accounting and finance in a reputable and busy institution, preferably in the hotel industry, at least 5 of which should have been at Supervisory level.
Excellent Strategic Planning and Budgeting skills.
Strong Financial Analysis and Monitoring skills.
Proficiency with accounting software and spreadsheets, experience with PMS like; Opera, Sun Finance, visual one, room master, etc.
Proficiency and application of IFRS.
Excellent Organizational skills and ability to prioritize.
Risk analysis and management.
Proficiency in the preparation of Financial Reports.
Excellent knowledge of tax laws/statutory obligations and their impact on business.
Strong business acumen.
Requires working for extended hours occasionally.
