Purpose of the Job:
The main purpose of the
job is to manage and/orcoordinate the implementation of GLRA Project
in Uganda, which mainly focuseson the prevention and control of
Leprosy, TB & NTDs and research. She/hewill report to GLRA Uganda head
of program by working in collaboration withGLRA Uganda Staffs and
different partners. The post holder will play a greatrole in leading
and implementing DAHW medical strategy and policy in GLRAUganda
program.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Plan,organize, coordinate and lead the overall
medical activities of GLRA Uganda
·
Responsiblefor definition, development and implementation of DAHW
medical-social policy atcountry/ project level
·
Responsiblefor development of country strategy for DAHW medical
activities
· Ensuretechnical state-of-the-art
support to partner projects
· Responsiblefor
facilitation of sustainability and quality of National TBL
Program/Projects
· Pro-activelyseek for
co-funding opportunities, new alliances, strategies, networkingand
partnerships in close co-operation with Head of program and GLRA
EastAfrica and HQ medical advisor
·
Develophighest quality proposal for funding of medical project
· Providenecessary support for sustainability and
quality of Projects
· Workin collaboration with
the National Programs of Uganda and others relevantstakeholders
· Workclosely with DAHW EARO and DAHW HQ MSP
department for technical issues
· Stayupdated
on all technical issues in the fields of leprosy, Tuberculosis,TB/HIV
and others NTDs in so far as they concern activities in the country
· Stayupdated on national health and DAHW
policies
· Supportand advise projects and
national programs on these issues and on activitiesaccording to
state-of-the-art practice
· AssistHead of
Program with validation of projects
·
Contribute/participatein relevant training activities for health
personnel
· Assistand advise all supported
projects in planning, implementation, monitoring andevaluation of
their activities (through progress reports and regular visits)
· Analyzeand report on challenges, problems and gaps
encountered in these fields withrecommendations for solutions
Requirements
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
·
MedicalDoctor + Master's degree in Public Health is more advantageous
· Minimum5 years of relevant experience in
medical project management and coordination
·
Goodknowledge and experience in TB, TB/HIV, Leprosy and other NTD
programmanagement
· TOTor basic training on
comprehensive national TB, TB/HIV and leprosy isadvantageous
· Previouswork experience in National, Regional
and/or International Non-governmentalorganizations is advantageous
· Experiencein coordinating medical or
implementing research project
· Experiencein
proposal writing for co-funding
·
Goodexperience in networking and team work
·
Planningand monitoring skills, ability to facilitate trainings, review
meeting,supportive supervision
·
· GoodEnglish writing and speaking
·
Abilityto work as a member of a multicultural team.
