About This Job:

Q-Sourcing Limited trading as Q-Sourcing Servtec is a manpower management solutions firm operating in the East African Region in the countries of Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, and South Sudan.

On behalf of our client Microhaem Scientifics and Medical Supplies (MHS), we are looking for a competent, skilled, and experience Procurement / Purchasing Manager to work in Uganda.

JOB SUMMARY

As the Procurement/Purchasing Manager, you will have a pivotal role in overseeing and managing the procurement functions of our organization. You will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and procuring materials, components, and services necessary for our medical device production. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership and analytical skills and have a deep understanding of procurement within the medical devices industry.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Procurement Strategy:

  • Develop and implement the procurement strategy in alignment with the company's goals and objectives.
  • Oversee procurement activities to ensure efficient and cost-effective sourcing.

Vendor Management:

  • Identify, assess, and manage relationships with suppliers, focusing on quality, cost, reliability, and service.
  • Negotiate supplier agreements, contracts, and terms.

Material Procurement:

  • Ensure timely delivery and maintain optimal inventory levels to meet production schedules.

Cost Management:

  • Continuously assess and optimize costs, driving cost-reduction initiatives.
  • Monitor market trends and industry developments to inform procurement decisions.

Quality Assurance:

  • Collaborate with the quality control and assurance teams to ensure materials meet quality standards and comply with regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure availability of pertinent standard operating procedures and adherence to the same by departmental staff.

Risk Management:

 

  • Identify potential risks in the supply chain and develop strategies for risk mitigation.
  • Implement business continuity plans to address supply chain disruptions.

Compliance:

  • Stay informed about relevant regulations, quality standards, and industry compliance in medical device manufacturing.
  • Ensure all procurement activities comply with applicable laws and regulations.

Team Leadership:

  • Manage and lead a team of procurement professionals, providing guidance, training, and development opportunities.
  • Foster a collaborative and results-driven team environment.

Data Analysis:

  • Analyze procurement data and key performance indicators to enhance efficiency and informed decision-making.

Collaboration:

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including production, engineering, and quality control, to achieve manufacturing objectives.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field. A ccertification in procurement is a plus.
  • 7 years relevant experience in procurement, with a proven track record in leadership and management, preferably in the medical devices manufacturing industry.
  • Strong understanding of procurement best practices, supply chain management, and vendor management.
  • Exceptional negotiation skills and a demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers.
  • In-depth knowledge of quality standards and regulatory requirements in medical device manufacturing. ISO 13485
  • Proficiency in procurement software and tools like SAP.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
