Key Job Tasks and Responsibilities
· Ensure timely and accurate preparation
andsubmission of all statutory filings, not limited to income tax
returns, VAT returns, withholding taxreturns, Excise duty, DTS, and
company returns. This will include NSSF, NHIF and anyother that
may be there from time totime
· Perform
financial data analysis, supporting IT enabled reporting and
handling electronic filing of tax returns
·
Conduct regular internal audits to identifypotential areas of
non-compliance and institute corrective actions including staff
trainings and following up on compliance of the corrective
actions
· Advise in developing and implementing
taxplanning strategies to optimize available tax incentives for the
business operations
· Provide guidance and
training to financeand operational teams on compliance
matters
· Keep abreast of the changes in tax
laws and regulationsin Uganda, assessing their impact on the company
and advising management (including training to staff) onnecessary
adjustments to ensure compliance, equallycollaborate with other
departments to create a culture of compliance

Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all tax-related
documentation, correspondence, and filings.
·
Collaborate with tax/legal advisors in attendingto all direct,
indirect and personal taxes inquiries and assessments issued by
the respective authorities, make/review provisional taxes and
manage communicationregarding all outstanding tax matters in dispute,
assessments, tax demands,ongoing tax compliance audits including
obtaining professional opinions or advice on tax matters and
updating management appropriately
· Carry
out tax risk analysis and advisory, keeping an eye on
transfer pricing laws (related party transactions),imported
services and Customs regulations for Board and Management update
alsoprepare periodic reports on tax compliance activities,
highlighting key findings, risks, and recommendations
· And any other duty assigned to by the line
supervisor.
Requirements
- A university degree or
equivalent certification in Accounting and Finance, Tax
Management, Commerce, Business Administration with option
(Accounting and Finance) or similar related accounting course
with CPAor ACCA Qualified or equivalent
- At least 4
years of working experience in Tax Compliance & Reportingin a similar
position with relevant proven experience in handling tax
matters with URA and statutory bodies preferable in a
manufacturing environment.
- Strong analytical
skillswith the ability to interpret complex tax legislation and apply
it to practical scenarios, Strong communication and interpersonal
skills, with the ability to effectively liaise with internal
stakeholders and external authorities and proactive approach to
identifying and mitigating tax compliancerisks
- Using tax software andaccounting systems. Experience with ERP
systems is a plus, Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in
preparing tax-related documents and reports and Business acumen
